"I just wanted to say that there needs to be vigorous and persistent community education and outreach - some really creative solutions to getting people involved, truly listening to what people want/need, and coming up with solutions that everyone can buy into. Its the only way we can direct growth in the way that keeps our rural and traditional way of life and simultaneously progress in a more intentional and sustainable fashion." 11/10/08
"I was surprised to see that 35% of the people surveyed said they were satisfied with new residential development. We need to conserve the scenic hilltops and views where these "new" developments are locating. It's fragmenting the rural character between our historic towns and farmland. A more desirable option is traditional downtown developments and add-ons versus these mega-house developments. " 4/22/08
"The website is informative and interesting. I am encouraged by what I've read about the PAT, the meetings, surveys, and discussions taking place to gather diverse input and ideas and formulate a comprehensive plan. I agree wholeheartedly with the expressed need for more walking and biking pathways as well as public transportation. But our first need is more jobs. The sprawling building developments (both residential and commercial) need to be restrained and controlled in favor of better utilization of existing properties. This is a great community and with the considerable talents of the PAT members, a solid actionable forward-looking plan will positively shape this county's future for the better." 2/15/08
